DIY Glass Party Stand

I've been itching to create a tiered party stand after seeing so many cute examples on pinterest. As luck would have it, I already had a cake stand. Or maybe luck didn't have it, since I dropped the matching dome; it shattered. Either way, DIY inspiration struck and I just had to hop to the Dollar Store for a glass candlestick and another dish.  Just my luck, they were carrying these great sectioned glass dishes that practically matched the cake stand! This whole project could be make completely from thrifted or dollar store plates and candlesticks. If you want to start completely from scratch, get another candlestick and a larger plate. Or make it three-tiered, or use platters! And good for you if you can stop eating the treats long enough to fill the stand. I know I can't!

E6000 GLUE IS SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS, BUT IT WAS ALL DRIED UP SO I ENDED UP USING ANOTHER WATERPROOF MULTI-PURPOSE CRAFT GLUE FOR MY STAND. CAN'T COMPLAIN! I DIDN'T USE ANY OTHER SPECIAL TECHNIQUES, JUST APPLIED GLUE, SET THE PIECES TOGETHER ON THE FLOOR IN A CORNER AND LEFT IT ALONE. IT TOOK A LITTLE MORE THAN A DAY FOR MY GLUE TO COMPLETELY SET. Flea markets and thrift shops often yield cool cut glass glassware of all types. Just remember, vintage glass is likely to contain lead, so it's really only safe for food use if you are using paper doilies or cupcake cups!
