Kali & JT - A Bay Area Wedding

Last June, Kali & JT were faced with the dilemma all engaged couples are facing this year: do we postpone the wedding? They decided to stay the course. They cut the guest list, changed the venue to a wooded grove in the Oakland Hills, and had a small reception in the backyard of a family member. Meghan Smolka Photography was grateful to be included in this intimate gathering of family and a few friends. Kali and her bridesmaids got ready near the Berkeley Marina, and then we all took off for the hills.

A small group of immediate family awaited Kali & JT in the Oakland Hills, underneath soaring trees and blue skies. They exchanged vows, broke bread, and were blessed by the love of their friends and family.

After formal photos, the group headed to the backyard reception, while I and the videographer spent some time capturing the newly married couple on their own under the trees.

We headed East to a backyard reception, where the couple was greeted by their happy family. The party sat down for prayers, and then indulged in Breakfast For Dinner, complete with mimosas and made-to-order waffles! After the meal, the couple cut their cakes and twirled into their first dances, kicking off the evening’s festivities.
