Simple Smoothie


I've never been a big fan of daily smoothies or using shakes or beverages as meal replacement. I like to eat meals with separate food groups, not just slurping down my food like a baby! I like to eat mainly Whole30, with grains and beans thrown in multiple days a week, and dairy or sugar very sparingly on one day or two. This just works best for me. Joining TerraFit has exposed me to some surprisingly good, clean, simple recipes that I hadn't tried before, which I will definitely be adding to my tried-and-true recipes book. My absolute favorite find so far is the light yet nutritious smoothie recipe I'm sharing today. No mixing chia seeds overnight, no prep. Just wake-up and throw together this light drink for a pre-workout boost.


  • 1 small banana (chopped and pre-frozen, if desired)
  • 1 cored apple
  • 1/2 - 1 cup nut milk (I used 1/2 cup almond)
  • 1-2 tablespoons natural, sugar-free nut butter

Blend ingredients. Add a drop or two of Wild Orange Doterra essential oil to up the antioxidants and provide a burst of fresh, sugar-free flavor (or try Citrus Bliss or tangerine!). It's so much lighter and more refreshing than a regular peanut-butter-banana smoothie, but still full of necessary protein, good fats and two servings of fruit. What should I name this smoothie?!
