Whenever my boyfriend's mom is in town, we hit up Gayle's Bakery in Capitola. I don't know why I don't visit more often (oh wait yes I do, my diet!). Gayle's is an always-bustling local spot that consistently creates delicious, rich, savory food. They don't just dabble in freshly-baked breads and pastries, Gayle's is also known for its rotisserie meats, breakfast burritos, lunch menu, blue plate dinners, confections, cookies, and wedding cakes. Growing up, I always asked for a little Princess cake from Gayle's Bakery. It's a sugary dome covered in pastel marzipan, dusted with powdered sugar and adorned with a single rosebud. It's still such a bakery favorite!
