Bourbon Ginger Orange Cranberry Sauce
Fresh cranberry sauce is incredibly easy and quick to make, so this year I wanted to try some variation. After finding an interesting Bourbon Orange Cranberry recipe from Gimme Some Oven, I modified it a little more with fresh ginger and vanilla. It definitely had a kick! E and I are not big liquor lovers, and his clients often give him bottles for the holidays. We have more than one bottle of fine dranks that go manly undrunk. At least it came in handy this Thanksgiving!
- 12-oz bag fresh cranberries
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. fresh grated ginger root
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 3/4 c. water and/or orange juice
- zest of half an orange
- 1-2 Tbs. bourbon
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for about 15 minutes, until the liquid reduces and all the berries have popped. Sauce will thicken further as it cools.
