Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer Review
Beautycounter products are all about moisturizing and protecting. Their lightly tinted moisturizer with sunscreen is no different. Dew Skin is a super-sheer, hydrating gel-cream with SPF 20. It contains the safest mineral sun protection and skin-loving ingredients. It also comes in 5 shades, which I'm happy to see. I always find it puzzling when a product line (like Physician's Formula) completely ignores all skin tones. Obviously, five shades can't suit everyones skin, but it's better than one or two! Also, Dew Skin is so lightweight there's a good chance you'll find an appropriate tint in there somewhere. It's a super luxurious product in a pretty air-tight dispenser that both travels well and looks good on your bathroom sink at home. I was worried that such an emollient product would leave a tacky finish, but it just leaves your skin super soft and smooth.
"Our tinted moisturizer leaves skin with a luminous glow. Dew Skin Moisturizing Coverage SPF 20 provides lightweight, sheer hydration that evens skin tone while protecting the skin from sun damage. Black currant, peony flower root extract, and vitamin C reduce the appearance of age spots and enhance skin brightness, while hyaluronic acid promotes firmer, smoother-looking skin."
Let's Talk Details
THE APPLICATION It blends in easily with the warmth of your fingers. Dew Skin feels a bit thick at first touch, but then glides on smoothly and evenly. For my skin, I found the tint too sheer to make much of a difference in redness or spots. I use No. 2 and it just seems to liven up the face and add a ton of dewiness. Like many Beautycounter products, a little bit goes a long way!
THE WEAR This stuff leaves your face silky soft and smooth. The directions recommend re-applying every two hours for maximum sun protection. Out in the hot sun all day, I bet dry skin would just drink this up. I haven't tried it at the beach, only as a daily sunscreen and makeup primer. On extra hot days, I do skip it on my oilier t-zone so I don't get too greasy. This stuff is highly emollient and perfect for normal-to-dry skin or anyone needing extra sun protection in ultra dry weather.
THE SCENT No fragrance added. It smells lightly of sunscreen during application only.
THE PRICE $45
Dew Skin rates a 2 in the EWG Skin Deep database. View the rating and ingredients here.
Dew Skin is an ultra-creamy, moisturizing sunscreen with a faint hint of tint. This stuff reminded me of IT Cosmetics CC Cream, but without the opaque skin-perfecting coverage. I enjoy Dew Skin's hydrating texture, and often layer it underneath foundation for added dewiness. It's also great on no-makeup days because it provides sun protection and makes dull skin look more alive. It leaves the skin super soft and smooth. I've never tried a tinted moisturizer that feels so moisturizing. However, the price tag makes it difficult to recommend for anyone on a budget...
